Science Initiative

Science Initiative goes beyond the book and brings science education to the forefront, through the provision of well-equipped science laboratories and effective training for teachers, making science more accessible and enjoyable for pupils at these schools and giving them the opportunity to explore the practical side of science.

In rural areas of Nepal, many students struggle to pass in Science and Mathematics, where few public schools have the resources or staff with the necessary skills and training to run practical science classes.

Many schools do not even have basic scientific equipment, laboratories are not even in the picture. In order to improve the state of science education in public schools, the project, ‘Science Initiative’ has been conceived. Two Schools – Shree Raithane Secondary School and Shree Bhimbidhya Ashram Secondary School in Sindhupalchok district have been provided fully equipped science laboratories including all essential materials listed by the Department of Education Curriculum. This aims to support children in understanding and gaining practical experiences in science education.

This project also includes science fair which includes participation from students, teachers, community members, parents, government as well as non- government organisations. The fair provides the children a chance to demonstrate their learning and opportunity for everyone to understand how scientific concepts can be linked to our everyday concepts.
