Introduction

My School My Voice (MSMV) is a project that focuses on providing a platform for children where they get opportunities to learn, analyse, explore and express through direct involvement in matters that concerns them especially in terms of education and protection. The project ensures their freedom to express themselves and takes their views into account when coming to decisions that affect their daily lives.

MSMV is working in four schools of Panch Pokhari, Thangpal, Rural Municipality, Sindhupalchok, Nepal. This project established MSMV clubs in our collaborating schools for students of classes 6-10. Six students are appointed as school counselors (who will be overlooking and analyzing the decision-making of the project) and 10 students are members (who will be involved directly in problem identification and coming up with solutions). They will look into matters that affect them such as bullying, lack of extra-curricular activities, lack of proper teaching, inaccessibility of school resources, child labour, child marriage, trafficking, and so on. They will also come up with innovative ways of identifying and tackling these issues locally. As a result, these members will also be engaging in decision-making that affects their lives and enabling them to make take measurable actions.

The main aim of MSMV is to make the students, parents, teachers, and community aware of child rights and protection and ultimately establish the community practicing Child Friendly Local Governance.

To provide a platform for children where they get opportunities to learn, analyze, explore and express through direct involvement in matters that concerns them especially in terms of education and protection.
Child Parliament 2014, Children from the MSMV clubs raised and discussed the issues of Child Labor, Child Marriage, Child Trafficking and Corporal Punishment and had a question answer session with the stakeholders, including other children, teachers, head teachers and government representatives.
